Wagtail Eco Safari Camp offers an exceptional and unique experience in the panoramic hills of Kigezi. As you journey to the camp, you will encounter the breathtaking scenic volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains and the dense beauty of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Location and Access

The camp is located in Rubuguri town, in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Kisoro District, southwestern Uganda. It provides an excellent base for tracking several gorilla families in the Rushaga sector, including Nshongi, Mishaya, Bweza, Kahungye, and Busingye, as well as the Nkuringo Gorilla group. These two tracking points are just 10 kilometers from Rubuguri. The camp’s location also offers convenient access, taking only an hour and a half drive to the borders of Rwanda and DR Congo.

Gorilla Tracking

This area of Bwindi is renowned for its mountain gorilla populations, including the Nshongi family, the largest in Uganda, and is the only place in the country where gorilla twins have been recorded in the Nkuringo group and Kahungye family. The presence of multiple silverbacks and blackbacks in these groups makes the tracking experience particularly special.
