Natural Wonders
- Birdwatching: Over 300 bird species have been recorded here.
- Botany: More than 70 labeled species of indigenous trees are found on the property.
- Entomology: Discover over 40 moth species new to science and a growing number of butterfly species, including rare ones like Papilio antimachus parva and Charaxes fournierae.
- Wildlife: Six primate species, including semi-resident chimpanzees, are regularly seen around the lodge.

Secluded Tent-Houses: Our self-contained tent-houses are made from local materials and offer spectacular views of the forest. They provide a peaceful and immersive nature experience, situated close to the edge of the national park.
Location and Access
Cuckooland is set in a steeply-sided valley with stunning forest views and lush vegetation, ensuring complete tranquility for visitors. The lodge is approximately 2 km from the nearest dwellings and roads, with access requiring a 10-minute walk down from the car park. Please note that the path back up can be steep, making it unsuitable for the elderly, disabled, or those with serious health conditions. If in doubt, please contact us before booking.
Getting Here
Cuckooland is located on the Butogota-Ruhija road on the eastern side of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, 25 km from Butogota and 15 km from Ruhija. The lodge is accessible from Kabale or Ishasha Gate of Queen Elizabeth National Park, both around a 2.5-hour drive. A 4WD vehicle is recommended, especially during the rainy season.
